The Jungle are more than a duo, they are like two brothers: “We grew up together, we were neighbors and used to meet near a wall that was behind our houses. We used to tour together, skate together, play ball together. Gradually we started making music, exchanging the things we did. We had a microphone when we were both 15 and I (Josh Lloyd-Watson) had a pc and the two of us would stay up at night recording ambient effects, creating drum beats. We grew up as brothers until Jungle was born.”
Tom McFarland, the other half of the Jungle, tells us what music is to them, “It is the soundtrack of my entire life: I wake up to the sound of the clock radio, I go for a walk in the park with headphones on, I listen to it at every available moment, even when I’m not working. Genre is irrelevant: my playlist ranges from Steve Lacy to Funkadelic to Kaytranada to Leon Bridges, Floating Points, Aphrodite’s Child, Herbie Hancock, Sault. I’m not a so-called genre junkie: I like to listen to everything.”
